The Compass Institute Inc., based on the Sunshine Coast, is a dedicated 'For Purpose' organisation that supports individuals with intellectual and/or physical disabilities. Celebrating 20 years of service in 2023, Compass launched the "See the Able, Not the Label" campaign, showcasing the remarkable transformations of their trainees.
Founded in 1991 by David Dangerfield, The Compass Institute initially offered Alternative Education programs to at-risk youth and later evolved to provide cutting-edge day programs for young people with disabilities. Compass's innovative approach focuses on lifelong learning, skills-based training, and vocational opportunities, transforming the philosophy of disability support services from passive recreation to active development.
Today, Compass's 90+ staff support over 160 trainees across 6 campuses. The organisation operates various social enterprises, including a farm, cafes, a retail outlet, a commercial kitchen, and an Assistance Dog program, providing life-changing opportunities for young people with disabilities. Recognised with numerous awards, Compass continues to create a world where everyone can achieve their potential.
Kyampisi Childcare Ministries (KCM) is dedicated to combating child sacrifice and trafficking in Uganda by partnering with the Ugandan Police and DPP to enhance investigations and ensure successful prosecutions. Recognising the profound impact of community health, KCM strives to improve educational achievement, safety, and economic independence, ultimately fostering individual well-being.
Motivated by faith, KCM’s mission is to fight poverty, empower families and communities through education, advocate for justice, and provide comprehensive support to vulnerable children. Their vision is an educated and just society that empowers children and brings hope. KCM values education, healthcare, child protection, justice, rehabilitation, and economic empowerment, working tirelessly to rescue children from trafficking, provide quality education and healthcare, and promote economic growth.
Founded in 2009 in Kyampisi, KCM has made significant strides, including constructing a maise storage facility, establishing a savings group, and proposing a Community Vocational Development Centre. KCM continues to provide educational opportunities, healthcare services, and protection for children, aiming to eradicate poverty and create a brighter future for the community.
Bridge Christian Ministries (BCM) is a faith-based NGO based in Kampala, Uganda, dedicated to restoring human dignity by providing, connecting, teaching, and mentoring children and people living in extreme poverty. With a heart for children and a passion for helping others, BCM aims to see God's kingdom established in Uganda and beyond.
BCM serves the residents of Nateete, one of Uganda’s poorest slums, through various programs. New Seasons School offers free education to 210 students, while Bridge Christian Church hosts regular services, events, and music ministries. Additionally, BCM's community outreach provides the most vulnerable with food, hygiene packs, clean water, and healthcare.
BCM’s vision is to support the vulnerable children of Nateete with four key resources: free education, clean water, good nutrition, and healthcare. By expanding educational opportunities, ensuring access to clean water, providing nutritious meals, and offering basic healthcare, BCM strives to create a brighter future for the children and the community of Nateete.
